At first glance, both wood and veneer look beautiful. The longevity of one vs. the other is where comparisons start to vary. A veneer cabinet over time if exposed to heat, water, or constant wear can begin to chip or flake off. These chips are nearly impossible to fix and very hard to make look good again. With wood cabinetry, you can simply repair the issue and continue to keep the beauty of the cabinets.
The second reason is cost. In many cases, veneer cabinets and doors are more expensive to buy up front and more expensive to maintain in the long run. This coupled with the issues of doing fixes in the future are why we would recommend wood over veneer. At KPS Cabinetry, we work solely with wood cabinetry, keeping any future issues of veneer mishaps out of the picture. If you ever have an issue with any of our cabinetry, it is an easy fix.
